Pohang Class Corvette

South KoreaHanwha OceanCorbetaComisionado:2017
DESCRIPCIÓN DEL SISTEMA

Peru transferred a decommissioned Pohang-class corvette from South Korea, designated BAP Quiñones (CO-111), commissioned into Peruvian service in 2017. The Pohang class displaces approximately 1,200 tonnes full load and was designed as a patrol combatant. The Peruvian vessel has been fitted with Otomat Mk.2 anti-ship missiles, giving it an over-the-horizon surface strike capability. The class features a 76mm OTO Melara main gun, 40mm Bofors AAA, and anti-submarine torpedoes. While an ex-South Korean Navy second-hand transfer, the Pohang class represents a modernisation step for Peru's corvette force supplementing the aging Lupo frigates.
