Overview
Morocco operates two Sigma 9813 class corvettes built by Damen in the Netherlands, forming a key component of its medium-weight naval surface force. The Sigma (Ship Integrated Geometrical Modularity Approach) design is highly adaptable and has been adopted by Indonesia and other navies. Morocco's Sigma 9813 vessels are 98 metres long, 1,700 tonnes displacement, and armed with Exocet MM40 anti-ship missiles, Mistral point-defense SAMs, a 76mm gun, and anti-submarine torpedoes. The corvettes supplement the FREMM frigate for Atlantic and Mediterranean patrol.
