Overview
The Type 056A (Jiangdao II class) is a small anti-submarine warfare corvette, the most numerous surface combatant in PLAN service with over 70 ships commissioned. The 056A variant adds a towed array sonar for improved ASW capability over the base Type 056. It is primarily used for coastal and near-sea defense patrol, convoy escort, and anti-submarine patrol in China's near seas.
