Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW), operating under the KNDS Group (joint venture with Nexter of France), is Europe's leading main battle tank and armored vehicle manufacturer. Producer of the Leopard 2 — the most widely exported Western MBT (20+ nations, 3,500+ built) — PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzer (considered the world's best), Boxer MRAV (modular armored vehicle), and Dingo/Fennek protected vehicles. The KNDS merger combined Leopard 2 with the French Leclerc program. KMW is developing the MGCS (Main Ground Combat System) as the next-generation European MBT with Rheinmetall.
