Overview

Dutch amphibious transport docks providing strategic sealift, helicopter operations, and amphibious assault capability — among Europe's most capable amphibious warfare ships. Two vessels: Rotterdam (commissioned 1998) and Johan de Witt (commissioned 2007). Displacement of 12,750 tonnes with length of 166 metres. Features large well deck for landing craft (2x LCU or 6x LCVP) enabling amphibious operations, vehicle deck carrying 170 vehicles or 33 main battle tanks, helicopter deck with 2 landing spots capable of NH90 or Chinook operations, hangar for 6 NH90 or 2 Chinook helicopters, accommodations for 600+ marines plus crew, medical facilities including operating theater, and command-and-control facilities for amphibious task force operations.
