Overview
The Type 071 (Yuzhao class) is China's first purpose-built amphibious transport dock (LPD), capable of projecting Marine Corps forces for amphibious assault operations. It carries up to 800 troops, 4 air-cushion landing craft (LCAC), 4-6 helicopters, and 20+ armored vehicles. The Type 071 fleet (8 ships) provides the PLAN with credible amphibious power projection capability for Taiwan Strait or island seizure scenarios.
