Overview
The FREMM (Frégate multi-missions) is a joint Franco-Italian multi-mission frigate program by Naval Group (France) and Fincantieri (Italy). France built 8 Aquitaine-class variants (anti-submarine emphasis); Italy built 10 with GP/ASW/ASuW sub-variants. Displacement: ~6,000 tons. Armed with: Aster-15/30 SAM, MBDA MdCN cruise missiles (France), naval guns, torpedoes, and helicopter. Exported to Morocco (Mohammed VI class), Egypt, and the US Navy purchased 2 as interim FFG(X) (USS Constellation-class basis). Greece ordered FREMM for Hellenic Navy modernization.
