Navantia Avante 2200 (Al Jubail Class) Corvette

Overview

Spanish corvettes procured by Saudi Arabia providing coastal patrol and combat capability. Saudi Arabia ordered 5 Avante 2200 corvettes with construction at Spanish and Saudi shipyards (technology transfer). Commissioned from 2018 onwards. Features 76mm gun, anti-ship missiles, air defense missiles, helicopter flight deck, modern sensors, and stealth features. Displacement 2,500 tonnes. Crew of 72. Operates in Red Sea and Persian Gulf conducting patrol, exclusive economic zone enforcement, and maritime security missions.
