The Type 093 Shang class is China second-generation nuclear-powered attack submarine. The improved 093A and 093B variants feature a vertical launch system for cruise missiles, improved quieting, and enhanced sensors. While still considered noisier than Western counterparts, each successive variant has shown significant acoustic improvements.
