Overview
Pakistan's indigenous Medium-Altitude Long-Endurance (MALE) unmanned aerial vehicle, representing a significant advancement in Pakistani UAV capability. Shahpar-II features a 20.5-metre wingspan with a maximum takeoff weight of 1,100 kg, endurance of 18+ hours, operational ceiling of 22,000 feet, and satellite communication for beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) control enabling operations at ranges exceeding 500 km. Payload capacity of 250 kg supporting multiple configurations including electro-optical/infrared gimbal with laser designator, synthetic aperture radar (SAR), electronic intelligence (ELINT) pod, and communications relay. The armed variant carries precision-guided munitions including laser-guided bombs and potentially the Barq laser-guided missile. Shahpar-II provides the Pakistan military with persistent ISR, border surveillance, counter-terrorism operations, and precision strike capability. Operational with the Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force from 2021. The system has been deployed for counter-terrorism operations in border regions and provides continuous surveillance of the Line of Control with India.
