Overview
Next Generation Squad Weapon rifle chambered in 6.8x51mm (.277 Fury) replacing the M4A1 carbine. Gas-operated, short-stroke piston action with folding stock and ambidextrous controls. Paired with the XM157 fire control optic featuring integrated ballistic computer, laser rangefinder, and visible/IR aiming lasers. Type classified as M7 in May 2025. Initial fielding to 101st Airborne Division in March 2024.
