Filonun hava savunmasını sağlamak için tasarlanmış Franco-İtalyan hava savunma muhribi (Fransız hizmetinde fırkateyn olarak sınıflandırılmıştır). 7,050 ton deplasman ile EMPAR G-bandı çok fonksiyonlu radar ve S1850M uzun menzilli gözetleme radarı, yüzlerce hava hedefinin eş zamanlı takibini sağlar. 48 Aster 15/30 füzesi, 8 Exocet MM40 Block 3 anti-gemi füzesi, iki 76mm top ve MU90 torpidolar ile silahlandırılmıştır. 174 kişilik mürettebat ve bir NH90 helikopteri bulunmaktadır. Fransız hizmetinde iki gemi: Forbin ve Chevalier Paul, esasen Charles de Gaulle'ü koruma görevinde hava savunması ile görevlidir. İtalya, iki benzer Andrea Doria sınıfı gemi işletmektedir.
