Ada Class Corvette (MİLGEM)
The Ada-class (MİLGEM — Milli Gemi, National Ship) corvette is Turkey's first domestically designed and built surface combatant. Four ships have been delivered to the Turkish Navy: TCG Heybeliada (2011), TCG Büyükada (2013), TCG Burgazada (2018), and TCG Kınalıada (2019). The 2,400-tonne stealth-hulled corvette integrates a 76mm OTO Melara gun, Mk-41 VLS for SeaSparrow/ESSM SAMs, Harpoon anti-ship missiles, RAM close-in weapon system, and a helicopter deck for ASW operations. The design has been exported to Pakistan (MILGEM/PN Babur-class) and Ukraine. It forms the foundation for the more capable İstanbul-class frigate.

- First wholly Turkish-designed warship — demonstrated domestic naval design capability
- Stealth hull design reduces radar cross-section significantly
- Mk-41 VLS provides flexible SAM capability (SeaSparrow/ESSM)
- Harpoon anti-ship missiles and 76mm gun provide credible surface warfare
- Export success — Pakistan and Ukraine orders demonstrate international competitiveness
- Corvette size limits payload — no area air defense missile (limited to point defense)
- No towed array sonar — ASW capability primarily hull-mounted
- Small helicopter hangar limits sustained ASW/ASuW operations
- Being superseded in production by the larger İstanbul-class frigate
- Open-ocean endurance limited compared to frigate-sized platforms
