The TOS-2 Tosochka (Darling) is the wheeled successor to the tracked TOS-1A Solntsepyok heavy flamethrower system. Mounted on a Ural 6x6 truck chassis, it fires 220mm thermobaric (fuel-air explosive) rockets to approximately 15 km — significantly exceeding TOS-1A's 6 km range. The thermobaric warheads detonate in two stages, first dispersing a flammable aerosol then igniting it, creating a massive overpressure and heat wave lethal in enclosed spaces, bunkers, and concentrated infantry. The wheeled platform provides faster road movement than TOS-1A. Combat use in Ukraine has been reported, primarily against Ukrainian fortified positions.
