ANZAC Class Frigate

Australian-designed frigate operated by Royal New Zealand Navy as primary surface combatants. New Zealand operates 2 ANZAC-class frigates (HMNZS Te Kaha and Te Mana) built 1990s alongside Australian Navy ANZACs. Features 5-inch gun, Sea Sparrow missiles, torpedoes, helicopter facilities, 3,600 tonne displacement. Underwent modernization mid-2010s to extend service life including new radar, communications, weapons upgrades. Provides New Zealand with multi-role warships for surveillance, presence, maritime interdiction, peacekeeping. However, aging platforms with replacement planning ongoing. Close integration with Australian Navy sharing logistics and training. Critical for New Zealand maritime security though limited numbers restrict sustained operations.
