Overview
Global Combat Ship designed as an advanced anti-submarine warfare frigate to replace the Type 23 class. Displacement of 6,900 tonnes with a mission bay for modular payloads. Armed with 24 Mk 41 VLS cells for Sea Ceptor CAMM and future cruise missiles, 48 Sea Ceptor cells, 127mm Mk 45 gun, and two Phalanx CIWS. Features an acoustically quietened hull design with electric drive for ultra-low noise ASW operations. Embarks a Merlin HM2 helicopter and Wildcat. Eight ships planned for the Royal Navy. Design exported to Australia (Hunter class) and Canada (River class), validating it as one of the most successful modern warship designs.
