Eurofighter Typhoon EK
Electronic Combat Role (ECR) variant of the Eurofighter Typhoon designed to replace the Tornado ECR in the Suppression/Destruction of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD/DEAD) mission. Designated EK (Elektronischer Kampf) by the Luftwaffe. Features a comprehensive electronic warfare suite including the Airbus Praetorian DASS with enhanced emitter locating capability, new AESA radar with electronic attack modes, anti-radiation missile integration (likely AARGM-ER), towed radar decoy, and an advanced mission planning system for electronic order of battle analysis. Germany has ordered 15 EK variants as part of a broader Tranche 4 Eurofighter procurement. Expected to achieve initial operational capability in the late 2020s, bringing a critical SEAD capability previously provided exclusively by the Tornado.
