Overview

Ukrainian laser-beam-riding anti-tank guided missile achieving extensive combat success against Russian armor during the 2022-present war — accounting for hundreds of documented vehicle kills. Stugna-P (named after the Stugna River) features Semi-Automatic Command to Line of Sight (SACLOS) guidance where the operator tracks the target and the missile follows a modulated laser beam, providing jam-resistance superior to wire-guided or radio-command missiles. Maximum range of 5 km (Stugna-P) or 5.5 km (Stugna-P-1), tandem-charge warhead penetrating 800+ mm armor behind reactive armor, top-attack capability against vehicles with thin roof armor, remote operation via 50-metre cable enabling operator to control from cover, thermal sight for night operations, and rapid reload (under 2 minutes). Missile weight of 31 kg with system weight of 110 kg including launcher, missiles, and tripod. Ukrainian forces employed Stugna-P to devastating effect in 2014-2015 Donbas war and 2022 invasion, with numerous videos showing successful engagements. The remote operation capability proved critical for crew survival. Production accelerated during wartime. Exported to undisclosed customers. Represents successful Ukrainian indigenous ATGM development competing with Russian Kornet.
