Type: missile

Overview

Pakistan operates several short-range ballistic missiles for battlefield deterrence. The Ghaznavi (Hatf-III) is a solid-fuelled SRBM with 290 km range and ~500 kg payload, derived from Chinese M-11 technology. The Abdali (Hatf-II) covers 180–200 km range. Both are road-mobile on wheeled TELs and capable of delivering nuclear or conventional warheads. They form Pakistan's tactical nuclear deterrence layer intended to deter Indian conventional armoured breakthroughs under the 'Cold Start' doctrine. Test firings are conducted periodically as readiness demonstrations.
