Overview
Heavy-lift tandem-rotor transport helicopter ordered by Germany under the Schwerer Transporthubschrauber (STH) programme to replace the aging CH-53G fleet. Germany ordered 60 CH-47F Block II Chinooks in June 2023 — the largest European Chinook order. The Block II configuration features advanced digital automatic flight control system (DAFCS), new T55-GA-714A engines with improved power and fuel efficiency, open architecture cockpit with Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS), and an increased maximum gross weight of 22,680 kg. Capable of transporting 33 troops or 12,700 kg of cargo. First deliveries expected from 2027 with full operational capability by the early 2030s.
