Overview
Italian tactical transport aircraft providing Kenyan Air Force with modern airlift capability. Kenya procured 2 C-27J Spartan from Italy providing tactical transport for troops, cargo, medical evacuation, and potentially maritime patrol. Features twin turboprop propulsion, cargo ramp enabling vehicle loading, maximum payload of 11.5 tonnes, short takeoff and landing capability, and modern avionics. Range of 3,300 km. C-27J enables Kenyan airlift for peacekeeping deployments (AMISOM), domestic operations, humanitarian assistance, and VIP transport. Represents modern capability upgrading from older transports. Italian support provides training and maintenance.
