Overview
The BTR-80 is a Russian 8x8 amphibious armored personnel carrier produced at the Arzamas Machine-Building Plant, combining wheel mobility with full water-crossing capability using twin water jets. Powered by a KamAZ-7403 260 hp diesel, it reaches 80 km/h on roads and 9 km/h in water. The primary armament of a 14.5mm KPVT heavy machine gun and 7.62mm PKT coaxial provides protection against light vehicles and infantry. Bangladesh operates BTR-80s to provide motorized rifle units with protected mobility during internal security, border patrol, and flood relief operations.
