Overview
The Boomerang (VPK-7829) is Russia's next-generation 8x8 wheeled armoured vehicle family intended to replace the BTR-80/82 series. It features a modern welded steel hull with modular composite armour, Epokha unmanned turret (30mm + Kornet) or Berezhok manned turret options, improved mine/IED protection, and amphibious capability. Unveiled in 2015, serial production has been repeatedly delayed. The Ukraine war has demanded maximum BTR-82A production, pushing Boomerang funding aside. The programme's timeframe and ultimate production quantity remain uncertain.
