Overview

The Antonov An-32 is a Ukrainian high-wing turboprop transport aircraft powered by two Ivchenko Progress AI-20D turboprop engines, designed for operations from short, unprepared, and high-altitude airstrips. With a payload of 6,700 kg and range of 2,500 km, it serves as a tactical transport for smaller loads where the C-130J would be uneconomical. Bangladesh acquired An-32s in the 1980s-1990s for domestic logistics and military transport. The type is increasingly challenged by spare parts availability following the disruption of Ukrainian support chains.
