Overview
Morocco operates the Eurocopter AS-565 Panther naval helicopter aboard its FREMM frigate and for coastal patrol. The AS-565 is specifically designed for naval operations including anti-submarine warfare, search and rescue, surface surveillance, and special operations support. Morocco integrated the Panther with its FREMM frigate Mohammed VI for maritime patrol and SAR missions in the Atlantic and Mediterranean. The helicopter provides the frigate with an organic aviation capability extending its sensor range and strike potential. Morocco has maintained French logistical support for the Panther fleet.
