Programme value estimated several billion dollars. Features 125mm 2A46M smoothbore gun with autoloader firing latest armor-piercing ammunition, gun-launched anti-tank guided missiles (9M119 Refleks, 5 km range), advanced Relikt explosive reactive armor providing protection against tandem-warhead weapons, modern fire control system with thermal imaging and laser rangefinder, 1,130 hp engine, soft-kill and potentially hard-kill active protection systems, and comprehensive modernization over original T-90. Weight approximately 48 tonnes. Egyptian local assembly provides technology transfer, industrial development, employment, and reduced per-unit costs. Programme supports Egyptian Vision 2030 military industrialization goals aiming 50%+ domestic content in defense procurement. T-90MS will replace aging M60A3 Patton tanks and potentially supplement M1A1 Abrams creating mixed Egyptian tank fleet.
