Modernized Soviet-era surface-to-air missile system providing Angolan air defense capability. Angola inherited S-125 systems from Soviet support with modernization to Pechora-2M standard providing improved radars, missiles, and digital systems. Features 25 km range engaging aircraft and potentially cruise missiles. Despite origins in 1960s, modernization maintains effectiveness against non-stealth threats. Deployed protecting strategic installations and providing area air defense. Requires Russian technical support for operations. Represents modernized legacy air defense supplementing potential future modern systems.
