One of the world's most capable 155mm/52-calibre tracked self-propelled howitzers, setting the benchmark for NATO artillery systems. Features a fully automated loading system enabling a burst rate of 3 rounds in 9 seconds and sustained rate of 10 rounds per minute. Maximum range of 40 km with standard ammunition and 56 km with Vulcano GPS-guided extended-range projectiles. MRSI (Multiple Rounds Simultaneous Impact) capability can place 5 rounds on target simultaneously. Carries 60 rounds of ammunition. Crew of 5 in a NBC-protected, armoured turret. Weight of 55.3 tonnes on a modified Leopard 2 chassis. Combat-proven by the Netherlands in Afghanistan and Ukraine. In service with Germany (108), Netherlands, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Hungary, Lithuania, and Ukraine.

- Fastest rate of fire of any NATO howitzer (MRSI — 5 rounds simultaneous impact)
- L52 barrel provides excellent range with standard and smart ammunition
- Proven in combat (donated systems used extensively in Ukraine)
- Automated ammunition handling reduces crew workload
- Very heavy (~55 tonnes); limits strategic mobility
- Complex barrel and autoloader require high-level maintenance
- Barrel life is limited; replacement is expensive
- High operational cost compared to truck-mounted alternatives
