Indonesia is a development partner in the Korea Aerospace Industries KF-21 Boramae (Hawk) 4.5-generation fighter program, contributing 20% of development costs (~$1.7 billion). In return, Indonesia is entitled to purchase up to 48 aircraft and will receive technology transfers. The KF-21 Block 1 (air-to-air) entered Korean service in 2024, with Block 2 (air-to-ground) to follow. However, Indonesia has had ongoing disputes over funding obligations.
