The Su-34 Fullback is Russia's primary tactical bomber/strike aircraft, with approximately 140 in service. It features a unique side-by-side crew arrangement in an armoured cockpit, providing superior crew comfort on long missions. The Leninets V004 phased-array radar supports terrain-following, ground mapping, and air-to-air modes. With a 8+ tonne weapons capacity across 12 hardpoints, it carries Kh-31P anti-radiation missiles, Kh-59MK cruise missiles, Kh-35 anti-ship missiles, KAB-500/1500 laser and TV-guided bombs. Has been the workhorse of Russian strike operations in Ukraine. A rear-facing radar provides self-defence situational awareness.

- Side-by-side crew seating reduces long-mission fatigue — unique among frontline jets
- Heavy ordnance capacity: 8+ tonnes including Kh-31, Kh-59, KAB precision bombs
- Platan targeting pod for laser-guided and TV-guided precision munitions
- Rear-facing radar for self-defence — unusual survivability feature
- Sustained intense operations over Ukraine — largest Russian strike platform
- Large and heavy platform — significant radar cross-section
- Substantial losses in Ukraine to SAM systems and air-to-air engagements
- No stealth capability — relies on standoff munitions for survivability
- Precision-guided munition stockpiles constrained by sanctions and production rate
