The 2S40 Phlox is a 120mm self-propelled mortar/gun system mounted on a Ural-532301 wheeled chassis. It can fire in both mortar (high-angle indirect) and direct-fire (anti-fortification) modes. The 120mm 2A80-1 weapon fires standard Russian 120mm mortar rounds as well as the Kitolov-2M laser-guided projectile for precision engagement. Automated loading system maintains 6-8 rounds/minute. The wheeled chassis provides rapid road movement between fire positions. Entered Russian service from 2022 as a lightweight, rapidly deployable battalion-level fire support asset.
