Mobile short-range air defense (SHORAD) system mounting the Skyranger turret on the Boxer 8x8 armoured vehicle chassis, providing manoeuvre forces with organic air defense that can keep pace with mechanized formations. The Skyranger 30 variant mounts a 30mm Rheinmetall KCE cannon with AHEAD airburst ammunition and Stinger missile launchers for extended range. The Skyranger 35 variant mounts the more powerful 35mm Oerlikon Revolver Gun with AHEAD and optional missile armament including IRIS-T SLS or Stinger. Both variants feature an integrated search-and-track radar, EO/IR sensor suite, and AI-assisted target classification for autonomous C-UAS operation. Germany ordered Skyranger 30 on Boxer as the Nah- und Nächstbereichsschutz (NNbS) system. Austria and other nations have also ordered.

- Mobile SHORAD capability on Boxer chassis — moves with maneuver units
- 35mm AHEAD ammunition effective against drones
- Can integrate Stinger missiles for layered defense
- Boxer commonality with existing German fleet
- New system; limited operational experience
- 30/35mm range insufficient against standoff threats
- Wheeled platform limits off-road mobility
- Magazine depth limited for sustained engagements
