CV9035NL Mid-Life Update
Dutch variant of the CV90 infantry fighting vehicle undergoing comprehensive mid-life upgrade transforming the fleet into one of Europe's most capable IFVs. Netherlands operates approximately 184 CV90 IFVs delivered 2001-2008, originally equipped with 25mm Oerlikon KBA autocannon. The Mid-Life Update (MLU) programme (2018-2025) replaces turrets with new Leonardo HITFACT 30mm turrets featuring Orbital ATK Bushmaster II 30mm autocannon providing dramatically improved firepower over 25mm, dual-feed ammunition system enabling instant switching between armor-piercing and high-explosive rounds, 7.62mm coaxial machine gun, Spike-LR anti-tank missiles (8 km range), modern fire control system with commander's independent thermal viewer enabling hunter-killer operation, and improved situational awareness with 360-degree cameras. Hull upgrades include improved armor protection, enhanced suspension, upgraded power pack, and modern electronics. Weight approximately 30 tonnes. Carries 7 dismounts plus 3 crew. The MLU transforms Dutch CV90 fleet into cutting-edge capability comparable to newest IFV designs while leveraging existing platforms. Dutch CV90s serve as primary mechanized infantry vehicle for Dutch rapid reaction forces and NATO Very High Readiness Joint Task Force contributions. Deployed on NATO missions in Afghanistan and Eastern Europe.
