Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, now a Lockheed Martin subsidiary, is the world's premier helicopter manufacturer. Founded by Igor Sikorsky who invented the modern helicopter configuration in 1939, Sikorsky has produced the iconic UH-60 Black Hawk (most widely produced utility helicopter, 4,000+ built, 28+ nations), CH-53 Sea Stallion/King Stallion, MH-60R/S Seahawk, and SH-60 series. The UH-60 Black Hawk is the backbone of US Army aviation. Current programs include the CH-53K King Stallion heavy lift helicopter and the SB>1 Defiant X competing for the US Army Future Long Range Assault Aircraft.
