Carrier-based airborne early warning and control aircraft ordered by France to replace the aging E-2C Hawkeye fleet operating from the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier and the future PANG carrier. The E-2D features the APY-9 hybrid mechanically/electronically scanned UHF-band radar with two-generation leap in detection capability, Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC) for real-time fire control data sharing, aerial refueling probe, glass cockpit, and an advanced mission computing environment. France ordered three aircraft with delivery scheduled from the late 2020s, becoming the first international customer for the E-2D.
