The Buk-M3 is the most advanced version of the Buk medium-range SAM family, featuring the 9M317MA active radar homing missile providing true fire-and-forget capability without the semi-active guidance dependency of earlier variants. Engagement range is 70 km against aircraft and 30 km against ballistic targets. Battery comprises TELAR (transporter-erector-launcher-radar), loader-launcher, and command vehicle. The system tracks 36 targets and engages 36 simultaneously. Entered service 2016 with Russian Air Defence Forces. Used in Ukraine where Russian Buk batteries have achieved kills but also suffered losses to Ukrainian AGM-88 HARM anti-radiation missiles.
