Overview
The T-90S is a Russian export main battle tank derived from the T-90, incorporating Kontakt-5 ERA, Shtora-1 electro-optical jamming system, and the 125mm 2A46M-2 smoothbore gun. The 840 hp V-84MS diesel engine powers the 46.5-tonne vehicle. Azerbaijan operates the T-90S as its most capable MBT, providing significant upgrade over the T-72 fleet with improved protection against ATGMs and better night-fighting capability. The Shtora-1 countermeasures system disrupts semi-active guided anti-tank missiles through high-intensity modulated IR sources.
