The T-72 Aslan is an Azerbaijani-modernized variant of the T-72 main battle tank, developed with Ukrainian technical assistance at the Azerbaijan State Military Factory. Upgrades include a new fire control system, improved thermal imaging, explosive reactive armor, and engine enhancements. The 125mm 2A46M smoothbore gun provides main armament. The Aslan represents Azerbaijan's effort to extend the service life of its Soviet-era tank fleet while improving survivability and lethality against the anti-armor systems fielded by regional adversaries.
