Overview
The SkyGuard/Oerlikon air defense system pairs the Oerlikon 35mm GDF twin-cannon gun system with the Skyguard fire control radar, optionally combined with the Aspide missile for a gun-missile defense capability. The 35mm rounds achieve an effective range of approximately 4 km against aerial targets while the Aspide missile extends engagement range to 25 km. The Skyguard radar provides simultaneous target tracking and fire control. Azerbaijan uses the system for point defense of critical facilities including airfields, command centers, and logistics nodes.
