Overview

The Pokpung-ho ('Storm Tiger') is North Korea's most capable domestically produced tank, based on the T-72 chassis with locally developed improvements. Introduced in the early 2000s, it features a 125mm smoothbore gun with autoloader, claimed ERA protection, and limited active protection. Some variants reportedly can fire anti-tank guided missiles through the barrel. The actual combat performance is unknown as the type has never been tested in real conflict, and avionics quality is assessed as well below Russian or Chinese equivalents.
