Overview
India's indigenous multi-barrel rocket launcher system providing rapid long-range saturation fire capability. The Pinaka (named after the bow of Lord Shiva) features 12 launch tubes mounted on a Tatra 8x8 truck chassis. Pinaka Mk1 had a range of 40 km, while the improved Mk2 extends range to 60 km through enhanced rocket motors and GPS/INS guidance for precision strike within 50 metres CEP — transforming the system from an area weapon to a precision strike system. Pinaka Mk3 under development features range exceeding 90 km and compatibility with guided rockets with CEP under 10 metres. The system can ripple-fire all 12 rockets in 44 seconds, providing devastating firepower. Reload time of 15 minutes with automated loading system. Each Pinaka battery includes 6 launchers, 6 loader vehicles, command post, and fire control radar. Combat-proven in high-altitude operations. Indian Army operates multiple Pinaka regiments with ongoing expansion. Exported to Armenia with significant international interest.
