Overview
The MBT-2000, also designated VT-1A in export form, is a Chinese main battle tank developed by Norinco featuring a Ukrainian 6TD-2 1,200 hp diesel engine for superior power-to-weight ratio. The 125mm smoothbore gun with automatic loader enables a crew of three and achieves a rate of fire of 7-8 rounds per minute. Composite armor provides protection equivalent to approximately 500-600mm RHA. Bangladesh operates the MBT-2000 as its primary modern tank, representing the most capable armored vehicle in the Bangladesh Army inventory, particularly valued for its lighter weight in delta terrain.
