Overview
Poland contracted for 250 M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams tanks in April 2022 alongside an interim delivery of 116 refurbished M1A1 FEP (Firepower Enhancement Package) from US Army surplus. The M1A2 SEPv3 features the M256A1 120mm smoothbore gun, third-generation depleted uranium composite armour, AGT-1500C gas turbine (1,500 hp), Trophy active protection system, and improved digital electronics. The Abrams supplements Poland's K2PL programme — creating a two-MBT fleet that provides numerical mass while K2PL local production ramps up. The 116 M1A1 FEP were delivered from late 2022 as near-term capability.
