Overview
The K2PL (Wilk — Wolf) is the Polish-customised variant of Hyundai Rotem's K2 Black Panther main battle tank. Poland signed contracts for 180 K2 (standard) in July 2022 plus 820 K2PL (Polish variant) for a total of 1,000 tanks — one of the largest MBT orders in NATO history. The K2PL features a 120mm Rheinmetall L/55 smoothbore gun with autoloader (3-man crew), MTU EuroPowerPack 1,500 hp diesel engine (replacing K2's Doosan), Trophy APS integration, and additional armour packages. Maximum speed is 70 km/h; range ~450 km. Local production at PGZ facilities is planned. The K2PL fleet will eventually replace Poland's aging T-72M1 and PT-91 Twardy inventory.
