Eitan 8x8 APC
Type: armored_vehicle
Domain: land
Country of Origin: Israel
Manufacturer: Rafael Advanced Defense Systems
First Deployed: 2023
Overview
Israel's first wheeled armoured fighting vehicle, developed to complement the tracked Namer in IDF service. The Eitan provides high strategic mobility (road speed 90+ km/h) with protection levels exceeding any other wheeled APC globally. At 35 tonnes, features advanced composite armour providing protection against RPGs and IEDs, Trophy APS for hard-kill missile defence (the first wheeled vehicle to integrate Trophy), V-shaped hull for mine blast protection, and NBC protection. Powered by a 750 hp engine with 8x8 independent suspension. Carries 3 crew plus 9 dismounts with a rear ramp. The IFV variant mounts the same Rafael Samson 30 unmanned turret with 30mm cannon and Spike missiles as the Namer 30mm. The Eitan represents the IDF's recognition that not all operations require the Namer's extreme protection — the Eitan provides high protection with superior strategic mobility for rapid deployment across Israel's varied terrain.
