The Mid-Life Update (MLU) programme (2018-2025) replaces turrets with new Leonardo HITFACT 30mm turrets featuring Orbital ATK Bushmaster II 30mm autocannon providing dramatically improved firepower over 25mm, dual-feed ammunition system enabling instant switching between armor-piercing and high-explosive rounds, 7.62mm coaxial machine gun, Spike-LR anti-tank missiles (8 km range), modern fire control system with commander's independent thermal viewer enabling hunter-killer operation, and improved situational awareness with 360-degree cameras. Hull upgrades include improved armor protection, enhanced suspension, upgraded power pack, and modern electronics. Weight approximately 30 tonnes. Carries 7 dismounts plus 3 crew. The MLU transforms Dutch CV90 fleet into cutting-edge capability comparable to newest IFV designs while leveraging existing platforms.
