Overview
CAmion Equipé d'un Système d'ARtillerie — a 155mm/52-calibre truck-mounted self-propelled howitzer that has become one of the most successful artillery systems on the global market. The MkI on a 6x6 Renault Sherpa chassis weighs 18 tonnes with a crew of 5 and can fire 6 rounds per minute to a range of 42 km with ERFB-BB ammunition. The MkII on an 8x8 Tatra chassis adds an automated ammunition handling system enabling 3-person operation, armoured cabin, increased ammunition stowage (30 vs 18 rounds), and enhanced counter-battery survivability with shoot-and-scoot in under 60 seconds. Combat-proven extensively in Afghanistan, Iraq, Mali, and Ukraine.
