Overview
The Barak-8 MRSAM is an Indo-Israeli co-development by IAI and India's DRDO, providing medium-range air defense against aircraft, helicopters, anti-ship missiles, and UAVs. Using an active radar homing seeker and vertical launch system, it engages targets at ranges up to 70 km and altitudes up to 16 km. Azerbaijan's acquisition provides a capable mid-tier air defense layer between the Tor-M2E short-range system and the S-300PMU-2 long-range system, helping close coverage gaps against adversary aircraft and precision-guided weapons.
