Overview
The Type 094 (Jin class) is China's primary nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine (SSBN), carrying 12 JL-2 submarine-launched ballistic missiles capable of striking targets at ranges up to 7,200 km. It forms the sea-based leg of China's nuclear triad. Six Type 094/094A submarines are believed to be in service, with the 094B variant expected to carry the longer-range JL-3.
