Overview
Modernized variant of the Transportpanzer Fuchs 6x6 wheeled armoured personnel carrier that has served the Bundeswehr since 1979. The 1A8 standard features significantly enhanced mine and IED protection with a V-shaped hull, improved ballistic protection to STANAG 4569 Level 3, upgraded NBC reconnaissance equipment (ABC Spürpanzer variant), and modernized communications systems. Carries 10 troops plus 2 crew at a weight of approximately 20 tonnes. Multiple specialist variants in service including NBC reconnaissance, electronic warfare, command post, and combat engineer. Over 1,000 Fuchs vehicles have been produced for Germany and export customers. The platform will be progressively replaced by the Patria 6x6 CAVS from the late 2020s.
